One of my goals was to stop in a town and spend time getting to know it...visit libraries...attend community events...maybe even a church! What I am discovering is that few towns actually have natural campgrounds. Oh they have RV parks but my idea of fun is not being squeezed between two giant RV's. So I am spending a day or two in Rock Springs, WY at a cheap hotel! Gives me time to shower, clean, and power up my devices. And this is enabling me to post on my blog.

Thank you for sharing your blog. Wishing you better weather and lovely experiences. Leah
Your adventures so far, Dave, sound like the breaking in period and only more interesting and precious times are ahead. Keeping you close in our hearts during your 3 month journey. Let us know which state has the best ice cream and which truck stops are the most interesting! If you get to Winnemucca, NV, stop into The Griddle for a delicious breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were the BOMB!

Glad you're getting some good rest!
Glad you made it to Jackson Hole and the Tetons...some of the most beautiful country you could find!! Look forward to hearing more as you continue on your journey.
When I was a child our family took road trips around the country and we tent camped (which I consider "real" camping as opposed to RV parks) and in some places we were the only people! We camped somewhere in southern Idaho for a week in quite primitive conditions and the only other human being we saw was a sheep herder who came by our campsite with his flock. To me, that was camping! My parents slept in an army pup tent and my sister and I slept in the car. Like I said, we lived a simple life and loved it. On our road trips we sometimes stayed in roadside motels, but my parents didn't like paying more than $8-10 per night. Those were the days! I look forward to hearing of your adventures traveling in some of the same places I traveled as a child. Some things will be different and some will be the same. Our family would attend a local church service when Sunday morning rolled around, wherever we were!
